WinSdr

WinSDR is a Windows and Linux based datalogger for the PSN-ADC-SERIAL/PSN-ADC-USBᅠ16-Bit Analog to Digital Converter boards, the VolksMeter™ Sensor board and the  24-Bit digitizers boards PSN-ACCEL and PSN-ADC24

WinSDR Version 4.7.x can be downloaded using the above links. The setup program will install all files needed to run WinSDR. Both 32 and 64 Bit versions are available. To run the 64 Bit version of WinSDR you must have a 64-Bit operating system like XP 64Bit, Vista 64Bit or Win 7 64Bit. 

The program has also been tested to run on Linux using Wine. From the Wine website; "Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, Mac OSX, & BSD." The current beta version 4.7.2b and above should be used as some small changes to the program were needed to make it work correctly under the Linux operating system. See this page for more information on how to run WinSDR and WinQuake under Linux.”

WinSDR produces PSN event files that can be viewed and analyzed using WinQuake.

rsn_client

What is rsn_client it is a small program which uses the data stream from the seismic recorder. In normal use this stream is processed with the WinSdr program which creates data files e.g sys1.20161228 and GIF images of the traces.

rsn_client processes the same data, creates archive folders and uploads low resolution data (low sample rate) to the rsn web site

 http://www.regional-seismic.net. Note this is a restricted siteIf an earthquake or other event occurs which needs to be reviewed, a request is sent from the web server to the rsn_client which then uploads 4 minutes of high resolution data (200 sps), 1 minute before the selected P arrival time and 3 minutes after.

 

Where to get it

Either a download link or an email attachment or supplied by Vic Dent if he visits to setup your station. It is “proprietary software” only available to the RSU network users.

 

Configuring rsn_client is done with a text.cfg file. Rsn_client reads this file which has the stations user password and other parameters defining archiving, uploading intervals etc. This file must be named regional_sdr.cfg and reside in the root of the WinSdr folder.

Usage double click rsn_client.exe  to run. It may also be run through “Schedule Tasks” so it runs automatically on Windows reboots

In some cases it may need to be run in “command line” mode from a command prompt. There are a number of “switches” which may be used as necessary. Running in this mode is normally for diagnostic purposes

          --resetgps 1 5  Direct @ port 1, with reset the GARMIN GPS,

                          after 5 minutes (debug)

                          This will also turn on the GPS status output

                          for the period before it is reset.

          --processcheck  Process seisdata.* or sysN.DATE.dat files and check

                          that existing archives are identical.

          --archivecheck  Process all *.rnd archive files

                          to check for corrupted files.

Extra options: (specify only one)

          --verbose       Tells you more information on whats going on

          --adc_debug     Turns on ADC debug messages AND verbose mode

          --net_debug     Turns on network debug messages AND verbose mode
